The grotto of the sanctuary of St. Orontius

The 17th-century whitewashed karst cave of irregular shape is located in the Sanctuary of St. Orontius. It is accessed via a staircase dug into rock. One of its most remarkable decorative elements is the 16th-century fresco depicting the Madonna with child between St. John and St. Orontius. Outside the church are a votive shrine with a miraculous spring and the statue of St. Orontius. The Morrone hill, on which the church is located, is of great environmental interest.
